How To Create A Custom WordPress Page Template

There may be times when you want to create a blog page or that looks different than a normal page. Or Perhaps you want to use WordPress to run your entire website but want the main page of your domain to look completely different than a typical blog. This is an easy way to customize WordPress that can be very easily accomplished by creating a custom WordPress page Template.

The first step is to create your desired page in HTML, I use an HTML editor since I am somewhat geek impaired and can’t actually write any code. In this case we are not going to add content to this page from within the dashboard so add all your meta tags for SEO. It will need a title, description, keywords, basically everything a regular static HTML page would need. After you create your new page you need to create a new WordPress page template. This can be done either in a text editor and FTP uploaded to your site or, since it is a small simple file you can create it directly in your hosting account’s control panel. Read more…

How do I install a WordPress plugin on my WordPress blog?

We’ve had quite a few enquiries recently saying “I want to install such and such a plugin on my WordPress blog, how do I do it?” so I thought a blog post was in order.

There are 2 ways to install plugins – through your admin panel and ‘manually’ – below are WordPress’s own instructions regarding how to do both.

Through the admin panel is easiest – log in and then:

From the Administration Panels, click on the Plugin tab. Once you have uploaded a plugin to your WordPress plugin directory, activate it from the Plugins Management page, and sit back and watch your plugin work. Read more…

Knowing How To Install WP Plugins On Your WordPress Blog, probably seems like childs play to most of you seasoned bloggers, but I wonder how many of you remember what it was like when you started out with WordPress..? Due to the fact I have just taken on a couple of excellent content writers for one of my other blogs & following a couple of lengthy chats, it suddenly brought home to me, just how much the more seasoned bloggers take for granted.
